MEET OUR TEAM
Hi! I’m Wendy, Instructor and Owner of NWLondon Jazzercise, We have classes in Ruislip, Pinner, Croxley Green, Nascot Wood, New Denham and Harefield. I have been loving and teaching Jazzercise since 1989, came to England in 1999 and in 2007, I took a huge leap of faith and started my own classes in New Denham, when my fourth child was just a year old. I needed to get back in the world and find ‘Wendy’ again!! I acquired the NWLondon classes in 2015, Croxley/Nascot Wood in 2017 and opened Harefield in January 2020.
Describe yourself as an instructor – Passionate! I LOVE to dance (I’m a Flashdance wannabe) and my personal mission is to share that passion with as many people as possible. As an Instructor it is so gratifying to see the positive impact that Jazzercise brings to everyone’s life. It is amazing for the mind, body and soul and our community is like family. Don’t know where I would be without my Jazzercise tribe!
What do your customers say about you as an instructor? That I make them laugh? Seems like when my microphone goes on my filters go off! I hope that way they don’t realise how hard they are actually working. I say we come to Jazzercise for the fun and the workout is the perk!
24 hour a day job – Jazzercise Class Owner, Instructor and mom!
Kids/Pets – four great teenage kids - Danny, Gracie, Amber and Jenna. Cocker spaniel named Hope, two mini dachshund puppies named Billie Boo and Peggy Sue, a cat named Evie and a menagerie of rats and hamsters.
Other hobbies – LOVE skiing, sailing, the beach, travel and coconut margaritas!
What got me into Jazzercise – In 1988 I was living in Toulon, France and Judi Sheppard Missett, the founder of Jazzercise, came all the way from Southern California to the gym I was attending at the time. She did a demo class in order to launch Jazzercise there and I was absolutely HOOKED!! I met her again a few months later in France on a Fitness weekend and she said to me ‘I remember you from the demo class – when are YOU going to become an Instructor?’ Well, I couldn’t say no to that and a year later I qualified, taught in France, Switzerland and eventually in England. I had never even heard of Jazzercise before that and the next summer when I went back home to California I discovered a Jazzercise Centre around the corner from my house! Guess she had to come all the way to France to find me……..??
Something unique – Growing up in Southern California I played a lot of beach and indoor volleyball. I went to Sweden to play professionally after graduating from UCLA in 1983. I thought it would be nice to have a ‘gap year’ before getting a ‘real job’. Well I loved it so much I went on to play in Italy, France and Switzerland for 12 more years. At 38 years old I finally did have a ‘real job’, but then met my husband and came to England in 1999. The rest, as they say, is history!
Favourite class format – Dance Mixx – just love dancing as much as possible!
Regular classes I teach – New Denham and Croxley Green but, as the boss, I cover whenever and wherever I need to!
As you can tell, I absolutely LOVE Jazzercise and am very blessed to have an equally passionate and dedicated team of lovely Instructors and Class Managers. All of us look forward to welcoming you to a class very soon so we can show you how much fun getting fit can be!
What got me into jazzercise - Katie came to my very first Open House and, fortunately for me, two years later became an Instructor. She’s been dancing since the age of 3 so is an absolute natural!
24 hour a day job – Dance Teacher plus recently became joint owner of the Dance Academy where’s she’s been teaching for over 15 years.
Kids/Pets – Mum to Bebe and Buddy.
Regular classes I teach – Katie can be found Monday mornings in New Denham - and it’s always a full house!
So I’m Kelly and have been loving Jazzercise since I joined as a student, in I think 1998! As like most students one class and I was hooked. Through Jazzercise I met Claire and we quickly became friends. She was constantly on my case to become an instructor and in the end I said ‘yes’ and haven’t looked back. Come through 2 pregnancies teaching, stopped teaching for a while, but couldn’t keep away so came right back to it!!
I literally LOVE dancing so Jazzercise for me is a link back to my younger days as a ballet, jazz, tap dancer which I carried on till my early twenties. Loved performing and those that come to my classes now will probably notice I like to shake my booty.
You don’t have to have a dance background to enjoy Jazzercise though, I find it an all over workout for my whole body. One thing I am very grateful to Jazzercise for, other than the health benefits of course, is the friends I’ve accrued along my journey! Literally, have so many close friends, instructors, students alike. It really is a jazzerfamily.
As they say in Strictly, keeeep dancin!!!
I found Jazzercise just over 10 years ago and have never looked back. After having my third child I was desperate to get back into exercise and after my first class I was hooked!! It was the perfect workout for me, I come from a dance background and it ticked all the boxes. It was fun, exhilarating and provided the perfect social environment for a mum of three boys. For me to be dancing to music again was so exciting, the rewards were almost instantaneous, I was happier, healthier, more confident and I felt as though the missing part of me had been found. I soon decided (after a lot of encouragement) that I would become an instructor and am looking forward to celebrating my 10 year anniversary in September. I love being a Jazzercise instructor for many reasons, but mainly because I love to watch everyone grow strong and confident whilst having so much fun. My main aim is to create that friendly party environment, but also work my students so they can see and feel results! My favourite format is Dance Mixx and Interval Dance Mixx. I also work part time in a GP surgery and love spending time with my family.
I’d not long brought my first house with my boyfriend (now husband) he worked in the City and was always home really late.......I was bored!!! A friend invited me to come to class with her one evening. I was hooked and joined that night! Until babies it’s been the only thing that has got me out of bed before 8am on a Saturday morning.
A few months in I was approached to become an instructor. It was so hard and I was terrified of the mic! I couldn’t speak a word, my throat would go all dry and the words wouldn’t come out. So, I pulled out. Two years later I plucked up the courage and started to train again. In September 2011 I qualified as an instructor. Now there’s no shutting me up!
When I’ve completed a class whether it’s as an instructor or a student I’ve forgotten all about the stresses of the day. It’s the best way to de-stress, keep fit and most importantly for me to be able eat the occasional massive bar of Cadbury’s Fruit & Nut. OK maybe I eat them a little too often.
I love inspiring customers to work hard, whilst having fun and dancing out the stresses of the day and I’m on a total high when a customer comes up to me and says “that was tough but good”
Day Job; Loyalty Products Manager in the Aftersales Department of a Car Manufacturer.
Family; Daughter to a Jazzercise loving Mum and a bricky Dad, big sister to 3 still annoying little brothers, wife to Darren since 2011 and Mum to 2 daughters; Freya born in 2014 and Imogen born in 2016 who both love coming to class and following behind me.
Favourite Class Format: Dance Mixx
Something about me: As a tot Mum said I used copy her doing fitness routines with Diane Moran aka ‘The Green Goddess’. I don’t remember the Green Goddess but I do remember copying Mum with Mad Lizzie and Mr Motivator! Whenever Mum went to an aerobics class I was always right behind her trying to follow. So, quite fitting that I’ve become a Jazzercise Instructor and it’s my girls copying me and it’s Shanna (President of Jazzercise) on the screen!
Regular classes I teach: Monday evenings in Ruislip and Wednesdays evenings in Harefield.
My name is Rosa. I started my Jazzercise life a while after having my second baby because not only did I want to lose a little excess weight, but I wanted to have more energy too. This was around Dec, 2014, and after seeing me dancing away in the front row, Wendy, our class owner, planted the seed when she asked me if I’d like to become an instructor. I had no idea at the time that this was exactly what I was looking for. I didn’t think I could do it, and although it took me a while to let go, I must say that our ladies & gents were fabulous and encouraging and I qualified in February 2016.
Four years on, l am loving the classes and my new found health. I have met so many new people, some are really good friends now, and I have grown as a person too. Jazzercise is for everyone, any shape, size and age. I am so glad I took that first step and went to that Thursday evening class - it changed my life!
All throughout my adult life, I had always been a strange hybrid of totally lazy mixed with the occasional burst of whatever fitness programme took my interest. I’d tried them all! Circuits, Zumba, aquafit, step, aerobics, the gym, netball, Dance DVDs at home, you name it. It was always the same, I’d start with good intentions and then the lure of the sofa would win after a couple of months.
Fast forward to March 2011. I had just recovered from a totally debilitating and lengthy mental health episode. A friend suggested that exercise may help me in those final steps to being fully well again. I went along with her to a Friday morning class and, for the first time in 3 years, I felt absolutely amazing! I wanted to keep this high, so went back the next day to Tina Durkan’s class. I was hooked!
I kept going to class throughout the years that followed. Sometimes putting Christmas shopping on hold so I could get to class to get those final points for the 150 Club top! Priorities!
In May 2015, I wandered over to Denham for a class where I met Wendy Whitefoord. I think her words went along the lines of, “You have some spring in your boots! Fancy being an instructor?” Long story short, I qualified in February 2016 and, besides getting married and having children, deciding to become an instructor has been the best decision I have ever made! I love motivating and helping people to become the best version of themselves by challenging them and firing up all those mood-boosting endorphins.
